FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is abortion abroad legal for women from countries where it is restricted?
Yes, entirely. A procedure carried out in the Netherlands complies with Dutch law, and Polish legislation imposes no criminal liability on a woman for ending her own pregnancy. More: legal questions.
How much does an abortion cost in the Netherlands?
The cost depends on how far along the pregnancy is and on the method. Always included: the ultrasound, anaesthesia and follow-up check — transport from Poland and a Polish-speaking interpreter are available as options. For those insured in the Netherlands the procedure is free. Call us and we'll give you the exact figure.
Abortion after 12 weeks in the Netherlands — is it possible?
Yes, we carry out procedures up to 22 weeks of pregnancy. The Netherlands is one of the few countries in Europe with a limit this late — and no reason is required. See: abortion after 12 weeks.
Up to which week of pregnancy can an abortion be carried out in the Netherlands?
Up to 22 weeks of pregnancy — the latest legal limit in Europe. The doctor decides on the method and timing individually, after the ultrasound.
Could I face penalties at home for an abortion carried out abroad?
No. Polish law imposes no criminal liability on a woman for ending her own pregnancy, including abroad. The procedure is entirely legal in the Netherlands. More: legal questions.
How do I book an abortion in the Netherlands?
Just call or write — our coordinator will arrange the appointment, guide you through the paperwork and, if you wish, organise transport from Poland. See: contact.
Do you offer a surgical abortion or the abortion pill?
We carry out a surgical procedure (vacuum aspiration) under intravenous sedation — the method recommended by the WHO, short in duration and done within a single day at the clinic. The doctor always chooses the method individually, after the ultrasound.
Does the procedure hurt?
The procedure is done under sedation or general anaesthetic — you sleep and feel nothing. After you wake you may have cramps similar to period pain; you are given pain relief.
Will I be able to get pregnant afterwards?
Yes. A properly performed procedure does not affect fertility — another pregnancy is possible as soon as your next cycle.
